Naming Ceremonies

As an alternative to a traditional christening, a naming ceremony celebrates the arrival of new life. It can be held when the child is just a few days or weeks old, or to celebrate a milestone like the first birthday.

You can welcome your new baby by lighting candles, planting a tree, or making an imprint of the child's hands or feet in a paving stone for your garden.

Many parents choose to nominate someone close to them as a mentor or guardian of the child. This is a very special position to hold. Usually they will sign a certificate to mark the day. Other ways to involve special people are to ask them to read a poem or reading, or sing a song.

As with all my ceremonies, you will be given a copy of the ceremony to keep and share with your child in future years.
